Surround your students with positive and instructors
Express themselves and get creative
It will be the best workshop they’ve had or your money back
We understand the challenges of teaching secondary school students. We know inspiring and motivating teenagers is a constant challenge. Which is why you can be rest assured the content of your Urban Strides workshop will be challenging enough to keep your students engaged throughout as we build their physical confidence and cater for the range of abilities in your class.
We are focused on developing and nurturing your students self esteem, self confidence and including them in an environment where they are surrounded by passion and positivity. We will unleash your students creativity and give them an opportunity to express themselves in something that will heighten their self esteem whilst doing no harm at all in raising their street cred at school!
Through praise and goal setting Your students will grow in confidence
We have something for every students ability level
Your students will be smiling and laughing for the rest of the day!
A typical workshop usually lasts for an hour. In that time your students will learn the foundations of a Street Dance style of your choice. (Breakin’, Locking, Popping, Hip Hop, or House) They will learn what Street Dance is and the importance of it's history
Some of our teachers have used the workshop and developed it into a whole term of dance and PE lessons. The philosophy of respect, hard work, and self-belief are the underpinnings of all our workshops and your students will continue these beliefs into other areas of their school life.
Our secondary focus is in creating a positive and energized environment whilst having a lot of fun in the process. We have discovered the more relaxed your students are the more likely they are to create their best work.
Our instructors then use individual goal setting techniques to ensure your students are clear on what they need to do to improve to the next stage. With a strong focus on each child fulfilling their true potential.
“I would like you to know how much the children and teachers enjoyed your visit on Friday. The children had such a great time and couldn’t stop talking about it. They thoroughly enjoyed doing something different and as we haven’t ever done hip hop dancing at school it certainly was different for them. It made such a difference, especially to the boys, to see a male dancing and it being his profession. You dealt with the children fantastically and really showed that you enjoy teaching what you love, even to children this young. I do hope you are able to carry on teaching all ages as this is something that the children won’t forget. Thank you again”

“We asked the participants to rate the workshop out of 10 and the overall average was 10! Some comments included “Andy Instone (the instructor) was the best thing ever”, “It was a safe day” & “Andy Instone – Fantastic”. The workshop was a perfect mix, an excellent workshop”
Education Business Partnership – Wye Valley School
The feedback from the youngsters was that they’d like Alex as their permanent P.E./dance teacher! They enjoyed the challenge and several spent lunchtime trying to teach me the ‘six steps’! (Haven’t quite got it – yet!) I had a little look in during the morning and there was a lovely buzz in the hall – One character said, “It’s like playing Twister!” which I thought sounded fun! We have a new head starting in September – hopefully – I can sweet talk them into funding another session.
Thanks again and please thank Alex from the youngsters and me!
Judith – Suffolk Primary School
“Students thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and as their teacher I have to say I have never seen my pupils so focused, interested and involved as they were”
English Martyrs School
We had a real blast with Andy last week, the pupils and staff got a terrific amount from it & we all found it hugely worthwhile! Emotionally these types of experiences are so important to our children. They come from a place where music is not played in the home, where creativity and self expression are not even encouraged let alone a priority, which means workshops like these are just vital to them developing as human beings. We witnessed some amazing things from the children, joining in where they haven’t in the past, letting themselves go physically and creatively, and emotionally being more open and receptive to learning as a result of it all. it was a joy to watch, I knew they would love the dancing and Andy’s energy and they did. They were really able to engage with him and ultimately that meant he was able to get the best out of them.
After feeding back to our head teacher about it, she would like me to organise another set of workshops!
Holly – Old Ford + Culloden school East London
Myself and Channel 4 needed some Street Dancers for the opening of one of our shows and Urban Strides was our 1st choice. Working with Andy and the Urban Strides team is always a pleasure, he makes the whole process a lot of fun and ensures we get a high quality performance at the end. He put me and my team at ease and before we knew it we were dancing like pro’s! We needed humour in the piece and Andy’s flexible nature meant we could create something funny we thought the audience would enjoy. His creative suggestions and execution was spot on. I would heartily recommend Andy and Urban Strides for any Street Dance experience whether it’s the opening of a TV show, the Royal Variety performance or a weekly class for a total beginner. Urban Strides make it fun, positive and an exciting experience-with their incredible passion and professionalism you can't help but want to get up and dance!
