Masterclass Content

Through praise and goal setting Your students will grow in confidence

We have something for every students ability level

Your students will be smiling and laughing for the rest of the day!

An Urban Strides Masterclass is different. We have UK and world champions, international judges and choreographers who have worked with huge stars like Alicia Keys, Timbaland and Dizzee Rascal.

Instructors who have won underground battles and can walk the walk as well as talking the talk. However we both know for a truly inspiring Masterclass this isn't enough.

A typical Masterclass usually lasts for 90 mins. In that time your students will learn the foundations of a Street Dance style of your choice. (Breakin’, Locking, Popping, Hip Hop, or House) They will learn what Street Dance is and the importance of it’s history.

They will learn a routine based on the building blocks they have set out and have an opportunity to create their own work. Our instructors use their role model status to reinforce your ethos of gaining something positive from focus and commitment.

What you can use a Masterclass for:

  • To teach "Urban dance" modules for GCSE and A level
  • As an introduction to a new style
  • To create choreography for a performance or competitions
  • As a treat for your students hard work
  • To up your students level of creativity and choreography
  • To raise their performance levels
  • To introduce your students to style specific freestyle
  • To develop advanced students in a particular style
  • To help train your teachers in authentic Street Dance styles
  • To give your students an inspiration injection

What you'll receive from the experience

An opportunity to be inspired yourself, work and collaborate with Street Dance education experts and build on work created during the Master class that you can continue into other lessons. You can use the Master class to work toward a performance or competition or to simply to invigorate and inspire.

Some of our teachers have used the Master class and developed it into a whole term of dance lessons. The philosophy of respect, hard work, and self-belief are the underpinnings of all our Master classes and your students will continue these beliefs into other areas of their life.

Would you like your students to:

  • Have exposure to instructors who have worked with internationally famous music artists?
  • Understand what it’s like to achieve something worth talking about?
  • Learn authentic Street Dance foundations?
  • Have a deeper feeling of pride?
  • Feel they are capable of achieving more in their lives?

You'll be in good hands, our qualified instructors have also taught...

Our teaching philosophy

Our primary focus is in creating a positive and energized environment whilst having a lot of fun in the process. We have discovered the more relaxed your students are the more likely they are to create their best work.

Our instructors then use individual goal setting techniques to ensure your students are clear on what they need to do to improve to the next stage. With a strong focus on each child fulfilling their true potential.

Our instructors know only too well that often a Master class will have a range of abilities. This is when the Urban Strides method of layered teaching will ensure every student in the class will have something they can do, something they can work on, and something they can take away.

Who are the Master classes for?

Master classes are for organizations that want to take their dance students to the next level, here are some examples of people who have booked our Master classes in the past:

Kind words from our celebrity friends

Myself and Channel 4 needed some Street Dancers for the opening of one of our shows and Urban Strides was our 1st choice. Working with Andy and the Urban Strides team is always a pleasure, he makes the whole process a lot of fun and ensures we get a high quality performance at the end. He put me and my team at ease and before we knew it we were dancing like pro’s! We needed humour in the piece and Andy’s flexible nature meant we could create something funny we thought the audience would enjoy. His creative suggestions and execution was spot on. I would heartily recommend Andy and Urban Strides for any Street Dance experience whether it’s the opening of a TV show, the Royal Variety performance or a weekly class for a total beginner. Urban Strides make it fun, positive and an exciting experience-with their incredible passion and professionalism you can't help but want to get up and dance!
