What can I expect at hip hop don't stop?

We start each day at 10 am. You will have 3 classes per day each lasting one and a half hours with a 30 min break in between each class and an hour and half for lunch. We have underground hip hop dance dvd's playing in the refectory, so you can hang out and check out some awesome footage. There are always impromptu jam sessions going on around the campus and the tutors are around to chat or to answer any questions you have. With so many instructors every day is different, each morning there is an air of excitement as to what you are going to learn. If you want to be part of a fun and like minded community and learn more than you thought possible about street dance and hip hop culture then this is the week for you. Where is the course based?

The course is based in High Wycombe at Wycombe High School. Wycombe has great travel links situated 35 mins outside London it's commutable for any one in or around London. If you would prefer to stay over in High Wycombe for the week we also have several local hotels that we would be happy to recommend.

Andy Instone

An international masterclass teacher and artistic director of Urban Strides. Andy has choreographed for mega stars, Sean Paul, Fat Joe, and underground legends Dizzee Rascal, and Armand Van Heldon. He is also the presenter of four bestselling DVD's and has been the only hip hop choreographer to work for her majesty the Queen on two occasions. He has created work for arena tours, TV adverts, Theatre shows, TV shows, pop videos and festivals. His work has been seen by millions all around the world in over 128 countries. Andy is also director of Vauxhall Tribes a national youth initiative giving young people the opportunity to gain recognition through their hip hop skills. As well as a classical training Andy has learned from the pioneers including, Poppin Pete, Suga Pop, Budda Stretch and Elite Force. Andy has made it his mission to travel the world and learn from the hip hop pioneers that have helped shape and influence hip hop culture.  Marcus

Marcus was raised in Philadelphia where he learned to break with the crew Illadelph Phlave. Arriving in the UK in 2003 to perform on tour in a show called 'A Hip Hop Story', he joined the Funkstylerz team.  Marcus is well rounded in every style of hip hop and funkstyle dance and has much experience on the theatre stage as a director, choreographer and performer. He is also a very inspirational teacher and workshop leader.

 

 

Clara

‘Clara de Paris’ specialises in House Dance & Hip Hop Freestyle. She has danced alongside famous dancers/choreographers such as Brian ‘Footwork’ Green, Jazzy Jay (NYC), Niels ‘Storm’ Robitzky from Berlin, Nasty & Hugson from France & many more. For the past year, she has been promoting the House Dance culture here in London through her creative workshops. More recently ‘Clara de Paris’ has become the new NIKE athlete after winning the NIKE Danceclash 2007 here in London… there is just no stopping this woman!!

 

Del

Del is a vastly experienced & versatile choreographer, performer and instructor. Discovering dance late in life, Del has had the opportunity to train & work with some of the UK and world's best choreographers/dancers/pioneers. Starting with Breaking, he then moved on to Latin American, other styles of Hip-Hop (Locking, Popping and Commercial), Ballet, Jazz & House. He has furthered his training by spending an extended period of time in the United States visiting Florida, San Diego, LA & New York, priding himself on learning, developing and sharing the knowledge, history and foundations of all street dance forms. Del's credits include Gwen Stefani, Leona Lewis, Chemical Brothers, M.I.A, MTV Europe Awards, Brit Awards, TOTP, MTV Bustamove & The X Factor. As an instructor, Del has extensive experience having provided classes/workshops for many companies, shows, studios, both nationally & internationally. Del's vast knowledge is what qualifies him as a Hip Hop Don't Stop instructor. Always on hand to help out and to offer fantastic advice for all you dancers who want to take it to the next level.

Charlene

Charlene is a commercial dance whirlwind performing with just about everyone, From Kanye West, Usher, and 50 Cent to Kylie Minogue and Victoria Beckham. With performances including videos, The MTV awards Europe as well as huge sell out festivals Charlene comes with experience in every aspect of the commercial dance sector. Charlene is always available with a warm smile and some great insider tips on how to land yourself those commercial jobs. Maria is an experienced performer appearing in various stage shows, tours and musical theatre productions both in London's West End and throughout the world, performing at such prestigious venues as the Palace Theatre New York and the Mandalay bay Las Vegas. Since returning to London to pursue a more commercial career Maria has regularly appeared on shows such as Top of The Pops, CD:UK, the MOBO Awards and the Brit Awards with numerous artists including Jay-Z, George Michael and Kanye West. Maria has also featured in a number of commercials and advertising campaigns such as Nike, Hi 5, Rimmel London, Pink Soda and Bump 'n' Grind. Choreographic credits include an international promotional tour for 'Solidarnosk' and the launch of Los Angeles clothing company 'Insanity'. Maria has also toured with the Internationally renowned dance show 'Bounce - The Streetdance Sensation' and most recently with Jonzi D's 'TAG' - Me vs The City. In the West End Maria has performed in Daddy Cool at the Shaftesbury Theatre and is currently performing in “Into the hoodz” at the Novello. Alex "Mekanikool” Peters

Mekanikool is a UK Poppin legend. He has worked extensively with Poppin Pete from the acclaimed pioneering group the electric boogaloos and poppin taco, the two dancers that created Michael Jackson's unique dance style. He is the 2006 UK poppin champion and appeared in several music videos. Mekanikool's knowledge on poppin and the various styles within it is second to none. He has a passion for the dance and his greatest love is passing on his knowledge to new hungry dancers, always available for a chat or a jam it is our pleasure to have Mekanikool back for a 4th consecutive year.
