I just spent the morning presenting certificates to a group of exceptionally gifted young people, and I have to tell you it was fantastic. The urban scholars programme was set up to help young people in London Boroughs to access expertise and experiences that might not have been accessible to them otherwise. The Moody foundation funded the enterprise and the benefit to the graduating students was obvious. I was fortunate enough to be invited to give a key note speech and present the awards and I felt privileged to be asked. When there is so much negativity going on in the news right now about the hardship facing many residents of london it restored my faith in society to be able to celebrate the incredible achievement of these young adults. It took 4 yrs of commitment and a lot of hard work to graduate and to see so much joy in one place was wicked. I personally received so much positivity from the event it will keep me going for months! Congratulations to everyone involved in urban scholars both the staff and the graduates. Good luck to everyone you deserve everything you get. If you were at the event let us know what you thought, drop us a comment and stay in touch!

Last night saw Urban Strides headline at the swan slam hip hop dance show alongside professional companies Boy Blue and Jonzi D productions. The show was an awesome success, much respect to Maria Ryan for producing the show and bringing so many like-minded artists together. The crowd response we received was off the chain thank you so much to everyone who came and supported and made the effort to come and be part of the Hip Hop scene. It was dope to see so many urban strides family members from classes come and show the love! We kept it alive for our home town by dropping two new additions to our 2008 medley-a lockin duet and a piece to “I Mikey rock” by the cool kids, well done to the crew for all the hard work and extra rehearsals you put in you did the crew proud. If you were there drop us a comment let us know what you thought, its always good to hear from you.

I went up to my second home (LIPA!) on Saturday for a weekend of hip hop luv. Teaching the authentic nature of hip hop dance styles with Jonzi D-Breakin Convention, Ivan-Birdgang, Mouse-2006 world BBoy champion and Bagzi-House master. Presented by Xena productions we all taught our styles to a wicked hip hop community, I had a great weekend and met some serious funk heads, a great weekend of sharing knowledge and cyphers. Thanks for all who attended and Christina for putting on a sick event. If you were there let us know what you thought.
I have been asked to do a lecture for over 100 young people on the urban scholars programme. This is a programme set up to help people achieve their full potential. I will be talking about the dedication, sacrifice but ultimately the feeling off fullfilment you have when you start to realise your dreams. I will be talking about the positivity needed when things don’t go as planned and how to keep on going no matter what, ( you know, light subject matter?!) Hopefully by sharing some personal experiences it should be interesting, if not it will just be me chatting rubbish on stage in front of over a 100 young people, standard fare really! should be fun! If you were at the lecture let me know what you thought feedback is always appreciated. have a good weekend!
